This is a photo I took while collecting audio at a moth collecting expedition at the 12,126 ft Cottonwood pass in Colorado. As soon as I arrived at the pass a huge thunderstorm rolled up over the mountains. I took this photograph during a brief break from the rain and hail. I like this photograph because it really exemplifies the west for me -- watching weather systems rumble across huge distances is about as western as it gets, especially for someone who was born and raised in New England.
