I am the proud owner of a vast collection from my brother, Frank Mazza who died May 2010. Being a veteran of the music industry (he worked in music distribution for over 30 years), he had access to a lot of music. His broad, eclectic taste in music added to the amazing variety. My goal is to catalogue and appreciate as much of the collection as possible to learn more about what made my brother 'tick' and to understand how it contributed to how he crafted his own music as a singer song / writer in the band, ULAN BATOR (US). The collection is teaching me how to listen with different ears and appreciate all types of music, from world, to rock, to hip hop, to lounge, to heavy metal, to french singers of the 60's. It's all there.

:

This is an estimate. Call me in about 3 years after I finish cataloguing and I'll be able to give you an exact number. :)
Collection totals 59,000 items that include:
1) Vinyl LPs, including EPs: over 26,000
2) 7": imports, sixties, early rock: 2000
3) DVDs: exactly 896 (just finished cataloguing)
4) CDs: about 16,000
5) Comic books( ranging from 60's, 70's 80's, 90's, and today: 14,000

:

Now it's stored between 3 locations: 2 storage units and some are in my house. The picture I chose is just an iota of what exists.

:

Since some are in my house, its a little crowded. But my family can now wander through the world of Frank and taste a glimpse of historical jazz, classical, raggae, rock, folk; read a comic, watch a movie, rip a CD on their ipod that most likely many people have never heard of. I've also shared some with others too. I've donated some to the men and women who serve overseas and also add a new flavor to parties when someone wants a sound that is out of the ordinary. Trust me, it's here.

What's to say? The Mazza collection is in a league by itself. Which, by the way, is a very apt description of the collector.

Lorraine and Frank Mazza

We are the parents of Kathy Martin and Frank Mazza, Jr. We still remember Frank coming home with his new records or comic books and running up to his room to review them. He was an avid collector for more than 40 years.

We're very proud of Kathy for organizing his collections and treating them with the respect her brother felt toward them. He composed many of his own songs with the desire to share them with others and that's why Kathy is trying to help him fulfill the dream he wasn't able to complete.
