Jerry Uelsmann and Maggie Taylor have made distinguished careers out of manipulating images: he's an old-school darkroom guy, while she's embraced the computer. For this challenge, they provided ten images for you to remix into an original composition.
I was planning on creating a minimal pattern with the butterfly and crow. Then things just kinda got out of hand in photoshop.. ha!

Using 3 of the photos this time. I only found out about the contest yesterday so I've been cranking... Decided to limit myself to the photos provided only but in this one I did some painting in photoshop to accentuate the white space between the birds.

Taking stock of the images provided I decided to add a story for this couple. I call her mistress of the mail waiting for her correspondence from her lover. I suggest that she lives far away using the forest image and providing my own envelope.

I uploaded my piece entitled Trompe L'oeil Spoiler but don't see it. Should I try uploading again?

I used the sky, the blackbird, the girl, the butterfly, the hand, and the leaves. I started with the butterfly, and added pieces one by one where I felt they could work. as I finished, my girl began to look like a god to me, maybe a god of freaks. The way she seemed to be rising up reminded me of the title of the Kenneth Anger film "Lucifer Rising". To feminize it more I decided to name her after the Greek goddess of the underworld, Persephone.

Created using the butterfly, hand, guitar, and marble head images.
Paul
I used the butterfly, path, sky, and blackbird images.

My first manipulations involved the blackbird and the hand. At first the images were succinct and graphic. The more I went on the more of a 'printing on newsprint in a Sunday comics feel' developed.

Hi - I submitted an image on Sat. night, but I think it was too big. Here's a smaller image. Thanks
