Pretty Mades All In A Row

A Store I Own

:

Under $25

:

I am a mom with two little girls and run a little Etsy shop out of my house to make ends meet. I hand make nature and vintage inspired jewelry (birds, leaves, bees, owls, etc.) at reasonable prices. I thoroughly enjoy making pieces for every type and style of person and love to collaborate on design ideas with my customers. I have a shop where you can browse and buy a pre-made piece or you can get in touch with me if you have an idea that you would like to turn into a custom piece.

I am so happy to be part of a community where the importance of supporting local artisans is becoming more relevant. There are so many people with amazing ideas out there who are tucked away and have so much to offer. It's wonderful that we are seeking those artisans out and patronizing them more and more.

Jerelle Kraus

:

A Specific Item Suggestion

:

Under $25

:

“All the Art That’s Fit to Print (And Some That Wasn’t): Inside The New York Times Op-Ed Page”—a sly book by award-winning, 30-year Times art director & writer Jerelle Kraus—will tickle your intellectual funny bone. Kraus, whose 13-year tenure on volatile Op-Ed far exceeds that of any editor, quit her dream job to write this Columbia University Press book. The Washington Post describes it as “gutsy, gossipy, and gorgeous,” while Bill Maher calls it “politically incorrect and hilarious.” The S.F. Chronicle says Kraus “writes like a dream.”

Its lavish format weighs 3 lbs, opens to half a yard wide & boasts such notable artists as Steinberg, Sempé, Spiegelman, Sendak, Feiffer, Glaser, Gorey, Steadman, Rivers, Trudeau, & Warhol. See why SLATE wants you to “give this wonderful book to all your friends,” and Fine Books & Collections declares it “a splendid work to grace the most discriminating coffee table."

As stunning as the art is the author’s riveting recounting of the self-revelatory, Freudian excuses given by high-ranking editors each time they killed one of these wondrous works. According to History Wire: “Her tale of surviving 3 hours alone with Nixon is worth the price.”

Get 30% off “All the Art" by clicking through to Amazon from this link: http://www.jerellekraus.com.

Katie Adler

:

A Store I Own

:

$25-$100

:

Adler Grier is a small family jewelry business started by myself, Katie Adler (Adler), and Tory Vallely (Grier). I was a jewelry specialist at Christie's ready to start a family and Tory, my husband's aunt, was looking for something new to try. Together we created Adler Grier offering handmade pieces made of sterling silver, 14k gold-filled, semi-precious and Swarovski crystal (price range $45-650). I design and create for the younger-set (20-30s) while Tory targets the 40+ age group. Our jewelry has been described as easy and comfortable to wear, versatile and classic.
Tory and I are still making all the pieces ourselves, except when we ask our nieces and grand-nieces for help at holiday gatherings.
We are only a few years old so we sell mainly at shows to benefit charity. We don't have a storefront. We work from our homes (Boston and Hudson Valley, NY) but do have a website, www.adlergrier.com
