Official Rules - Listener Challenge: 420-Character Stories

HOW TO ENTER: No purchase or pledge necessary. Entries must be made through the 420-Character Stories Contest online form (available at http://www.studio360.org/2011/dec/09/lou-beach/ or http://www.studio360.org/crowdsourcing/listener-challenge-420-character-stories/) before the deadline: 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time on Saturday, December 31, 2011.

ELIGIBILITY: Anyone 18 years of age or older can enter the 420-Character Stories Contest except employees of New York Public Radio and its related organizations, their immediate family or persons living in the same household. Void where prohibited by law.

PRIZE: a signed print of an illustration by Lou Beach, valued at $150, courtesy of the artist.

SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION OF WINNER: One winner will be selected from all entries submitted before the contest deadline. Only one entry is permitted per person: in the case of multiple entries, only the first will be considered. The winner will be selected by Lou Beach and the staff of Studio 360 based on the entry’s creative use of language and narrative, originality, and length; the entry may be no longer than 420 characters, including spaces. (Entries longer than 420 characters, including spaces, will not be considered.) The winning entry, as well as runners-up, will be featured on air and online at studio360.org.  Submission of an entry constitutes warranty of originality and non-infringement, as well as permission for WNYC to publish such entry on air and online. The winner will be notified by telephone or email. Prize will be shipped by mail. The chances of winning are dependent upon the number and quality of entries. The winner’s name will be kept on file at WNYC and will be available upon written request to WNYC Listener Services, 160 Varick Street, New York, NY 10013.

GENERAL: By participating in the 420-Character Stories Contest, participants agree to these Official Rules, and agree that New York Public Radio, its agents, employees, and affiliates will have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind resulting from their use of the prize or their participation in the contest. Prize is nontransferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. There can be no substitutions for a prize. WNYC Radio may use winner’s name and entry for publicity purposes without further compensation.

RESTRICTIONS: Restrictions may apply. By participating in the 420 Characters Contest, a participant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules, and by all decisions of the contest judges. Only one entry is permitted: in the case of multiple entries, only the first will be considered.
