Three Kings and Camels Cross Broadway

Sunday, January 06, 2013 - 09:47 PM

A camel is part of Three Kings Day parade along Dyckman Street in Inwood (Gregg McQueen)

It's not every day you see a camel crossing Broadway.

Two of them were seen as part of the "River to River Three Kings Day" parade Sunday. The procession traveled from one end of Dyckman Street near the Harlem River to the other end near the Hudson River. N.Y. Sen. Adriano Espaillat, City Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez and Hispanics Across America President Fernando Mateo were slated to represent the Magi in the procession, which also was to include sheep. The Latin American community in Inwood, Washington Heights and beyond is among many communities that observe Three Kings Day to mark the birth of Jesus.
