The perjury trial in which disgraced former Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik will testify began opening arguments in Bronx state Supreme Court on Thursday.
Contractors Frank and Peter DiTommaso, owners of Interstate Industrial Corporation, are accused of lying to a Bronx grand jury in 2006 when they said they did not pay for renovations to Kerik’s Riverdale home.
The judge has issued a media gag order for prosecutors and defense attorneys.
Kerik pleaded guilty to eight felony charges, including tax fraud and lying to White House officials after being nominated to lead the Department of Homeland Security.
He also admitted he accepted $165,000 in renovations to his apartment.
He is currently being held in the Federal Correction Institution in Cumberland, Md., and is set to be released next year.
