The Taliban shooting of a 14-year old Pakistani girl has generated a worldwide backlash. Malala Yousefzai, an outspoken defender of education for girls, remains in critical condition, and Pakistani New Yorkers are closely following the story.
In the last couple days there have been protests in Pakistan, and an international outcry.
Some Pakistanis in New York, like Adnan Khan, a medical resident, are hoping this is a turning point. “People are standing up now. The silent majority is speaking.”
