A former New York Knicks Greg Jackson, who worked in the city's epartment employee, died in Brooklyn Tuesday. He was 60.
Jackson had a brief career in the NBA during the 1974-75 season. He was drafted by Knicks when he was 22, and played five games with the team. He then went to the Phoenix Suns, and was later traded to the Washington Bullets, now known as the Wizards.
After leaving the league, the athlete returned to Brooklyn and began a 26-year career with the Parks Department and the Brownsville Recreation Center, where he once played as a child.
"Greg transformed the Brownsville recreation Center into a true community resource and oasis of peace" said Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe in statement.
Jackson died of an apparent heart attack.
