Mayoral Hopefuls Release Fundraising Figures

Friday, July 13, 2012 - 06:51 PM

The likely contenders to replace Michael Bloomberg as mayor of New York began releasing fund raising numbers for the six-month filing period that ended Wednesday.

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio’s campaign announced Friday via Twitter that he had raised more than $800,000 in the six months that  ended July 11.

A campaign consultant for New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn says she raised about $700,000 during this time.

Other possible contenders haven't yet released their numbers.

Quinn campaign consultant Josh Isay says she has about $5 million cash on hand. Quinn has been leading the Democratic pack when it comes to total dollars raised.

Based on last period's numbers, de Blasio likely has around $2.36 million on hand.

Former U.S. Rep Anthony Weiner — a mayoral contender until he resigned amid a sexting scandal — also filed his report Friday. His campaign spent about $40,000 this period on expenses including rent, shredding and phone bills. It raised no money.
