Man Shot And Killed by Off-Duty Detective

The NYPD says a man was shot and killed by an off-duty detective in Brooklyn as he tried to rob the officer.
The shooting occurred on a street in the Bushwick section shortly before midnight Sunday.
The man was pronounced dead at Woodhull Hospital.
Police say the detective was struck in the face with a cane. He was taken to Wyckoff Hospital in stable condition.
Police say a 15-year-old who was with the suspect came to the police station with his guardian. He has not been charged.
The investigation is continuing.
