Whole Foods can go ahead with its plan to build a 52,000-square foot, two-story grocery store in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
The city's Board of Standards and Appeals unanimously approved the proposal Tuesday to exceed the 10,000 square foot cap set by the zoning code.
Some Gowanus residents object to the project on grounds of gentrification, fearing the high-end grocer could price out local artists and small businesses.
