Prosecutors Not Filing Charges Against NYPD Boss' Son

The Manhattan District Attorney's will not be filing charges against the police commissioner's son in connection to a rape accusation that surfaced last month.
Authorities had been investigating a woman's claim that television anchor Greg Kelly raped her. Kelly is the son of NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly. He denied any wrongdoing.
In a letter sent to Kelly's attorney Andrew Lankler on Tuesday, the chief of the sex crimes unit said an investigation determined "no criminal charges are appropriate."
Kelly said in a statement, "I am thankful that the investigation established what I've known all along, that I am innocent of the allegations that were waged against me." Kelly thanked his family and friends for their support and said he looks forward to resuming his post on "Good Day New York."
The prosecutor's letter said both Kelly and the woman were interviewed as part of the investigation.
The woman had told police last month that she met Kelly for drinks in October, and that he assaulted her. The woman alleged that Kelly, 43, met her for drinks on Oct. 8, then assaulted her after the two went to her lower Manhattan law office, one person familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press. She told authorities she was not capable of consenting to sex, the person said.
The woman reported the alleged attack to police, who quickly turned the matter over to Manhattan DA Cyrus R. Vance Jr.'s office because of the potential conflict of interest in investigating one of the commissioner's sons, the person familiar with the probe said.

Kelly and his accuser went to her law office after drinking, and there's only one reason people to that - to hook up. No one forced this woman to bring Kelly to her office. Now, this man can go back to work.
Man...is Cyrus Vance EVER going to resign? I know his dad was Secretary of State but this isn't an aristocracy, incompetent offspring need to get the boot.
How does this stuff get out in the press, particularly something as serious as the charge of rape? The DA determines that no crime happened but Greg Kelly will still often be attached to this verbal charge. I appreciate the need to keep the identity of an accuser secret, so why can't this also be done for the accused???
