FEMA Deadline in NY Extended to January 28

The deadline has been extended to apply for FEMA assistance for those in counties declared disaster areas in the aftermath of Sandy.

The deadline has been pushed to January 28, 2013. It was originally at the end of the month.

The extension applies to residents in 13 counties including New York City, Long Island and Westchester that are seeking assistance for rent, home repairs, property losses and other Sandy-related needs that are not covered by insurance.

Residents can register online at disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362.
