AAA Sues Port Authority Over Toll Increase

Wednesday, September 28, 2011 - 09:59 AM

AAA sued the Port Authority on Tuesday over recent toll hikes at Hudson River bridges and tunnels.

The motorists' group filed the lawsuit in Manhattan federal court Tuesday. AAA said it objects to the Port Authority's plan to use the toll increases to finance rebuilding efforts at the World Trade Center site.

The Port Authority said the lawsuit has no merit.

Cash tolls jumped to $12 on September 18th, and peak hour tolls for EZ-Pass users rose to $9.50.
