FEMA Extends Deadline for NY Home, Business Owners
Monday, October 31, 2011 - 04:54 PM
Home and business owners in New York who suffered losses during Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee have a bit more time to apply for disaster assistance with FEMA.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced it's extending the deadline to apply to December 15.
"It was quite evident that there was still a significant amount of registration being received," said FEMA spokesman Chris McNiff. "That usually means that there are a lot of people who have not registered."
McNiff said FEMA has received more than 41,000 applications for aid in New York, and has approved more than $87 million in grant money.
