The jury has entered its sixth day of deliberations while the hedge fund trader on trial, Raj Rajaratnam, goes into emergency surgery for a bacterial infection in his foot.
The Sri Lanka-born Rajaratnam is accused of making more than $68 billion through illegally traded insider information.
A website created by Rajaratnam's defense notes that Rajaratnam has waived his rights to be present and that a judge has approved his leave.
Rajaratnam has pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors have relied on hours of wiretaps they say prove the hedge fund trader illegally traded insider tips.
