Rep. Peter King to Hold Hearing on Radical Islam in Prisons

Rep. Peter King is spearheading the second in a series of hearings on the radicalization of Muslims in the U.S. on Wednesday with a focus this time on Muslims who radicalize in prison.
The New York Congressman, who is also the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, is set to preside over the controversial hearing Wednesday as law enforcement officials from New York and California testify on their experience handling cases of prison radicalization.
"At this hearing, we will look specifically at the extent of the dangerous problem of radicalization in US prisons," King said in a statement.
King held the first controversial hearing in March to discuss Islamic radicalization in the U.S. and the steps the Muslim community is taking to combat it. Critics said the Congressman unfairly singled out one religion and compared the hearing to McCarthy-era anticommunist witch hunts.
