The Republican majority in New York's state Senate met privately in Albany Wednesday to discuss how they want to proceed on the gay marriage bill, including whether or when to hold a vote. The closed-door session stretched over four hours, and at the end, Majority Leader Dean Skelos emerged to say they haven't decided yet how to proceed.

Skelos described the debate about the marriage equality bill as "thoughtful," but said "the issue has not been resolved." 

"I'll respect the decision of the conference once its made but the conference has asked me to keep the confidence of the conference at this point," he said.

"We will continue to conference the issue tomorrow," Skelos said. "We haven't resolved, other than that we're going to continue the conversation."
