Wednesday, July 27, 2011 - 03:02 PM

The man who barricaded himself inside an apartment near the Flatiron building after allegedly threatening window workers has been arrested, sources confirmed to WNYC.

The man, believed to be in his 70s, was arrested after contractors working at the location called police to report they were being "menaced" by a tenant at the East 22nd Street building who may have a gun, police said.

An employee at Argo Tea Cafe in the Flatiron Building told WNYC that police asked her to evacuate customers from the eatery earlier this afternoon and then ordered the cafe's employees to stay in the back room.

She says six employees had been there since about 2 p.m.
