Albany's Top Republican: I Back Cuomo's No-Tax Budget Talk

Governor Andrew Cuomo is set to announce his budget proposal next week, and he's getting some rhetorical backing from Albany's top Republican: Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos.
"The one thing we cannot do, and I'm delighted that Governor Cuomo has said this time after time after time: we're not going to solve our problems by increasing taxes," Skelos said Friday morning at the Association for a Better New York.
Skelos said the Senate will take action on a local property tax cap next week. "That has been a priority for our Senate Republicans for several years, and it is also high on Governor Cuomo's list," he said.
Skelos also called for what he called "smart investments" in transportation infrastructure, saying New York needs a balanced multi-year capital plan for both the MTA and the state's roads and bridges.
