MTA Unveils New Text Alerts for Metro-North Commuters

Metro-North commuters can now get transit information via text.
The commuter rail unveiled a service on Friday that will allow users to get train status and schedule updates in real-time via text. Tech company CooCoo, based on Long Island, is behind the project. The Long Island Rail Road has had a similar service since last year.
"We are always continuing working to improve how people can get information from Metro North, not just schedules and fares, but up-to-the-minute service status particularly important on those rare occasions when Metro-North train service is disrupted," Metro-North President Howard Permut said.
By texting station-to-station names like Yonkers to Grand Central Station to "266-266," or COO-COO, commuters will get an instant information.
