Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte is ditching his pinstripes.
The 38-year-old lefty said he felt conflicted about leaving the game and said "it was an easy decision, but it wasn't an easy decision," during a press conference at Yankee Stadium where he announced his retirement on Friday.
The five-time World Series champ's body was in shape to pitch but "my heart's not where it needs to be," said Pettitte, his wife Laura at his side.
Pettitte finished 240-138 with a 3.88 ERA in 16 major league seasons, 13 of them with the Yankees. He set a major league record for postseason wins, going 19-10 with a 3.83 ERA.
