Records Show Espada Was Senate's Biggest Spender

Saturday, August 06, 2011 - 04:20 PM

Records show that scandal-plagued Pedro Espada, Jr. went on a taxpayer-funded spending spree in his final three months as a state Senator from the Bronx last year.

A Senate report released Friday said Espada lavished almost $750,000 dollars on staff salaries and other expenses during that time, more than any other Senator spent during that reporting period.

Espada lost re-election after being accused of embezzling money from the non-profit Soundview Healthcare Network. He was eventually indicted.

Espada has not returned a message WNYC placed to his cell phone.

Well, he confirmed he's a fraud!

When he had the nerve to go onto the Brian Lehrer show and say "wait and see how I vindicate my name...blah, blah, blah". He was shot down by listeners as a liar.

Here's the proof.

Mr. Espada, enjoy the other part of your life--I hope it includes some jail time.
