Black Cloud Lingers For Bloomberg

Cathie Black may be out of office but some city residents want Mayor Michael Bloomberg to pay for the time she served as Schools Chancellor.
Fourteen parents, along with a newly formed group called the New York City Parents Union, are filing a lawsuit against the mayor accusing him of "misfeasance of office."
In a claim submitted to the City Comptroller's office, the group charged that the mayor "knew, or should have known" that Black's appointment was not in the best interest of the Department of Education.
The parents are seeking $100 million in damages from the mayor personally — which breaks down to approximately $1 million a day for the 95 days Black served in her position. The group is also seeking a public apology from the mayor.
Kate O'Brien Ahlers, a spokeswoman for the City's Law Department dismissed the suit saying that it, "so lacks merit that it's not even worth me commenting."
