Eight Slain Could Be Victims of Long Island Serial Killer

Tuesday, April 05, 2011 - 10:48 AM

A serial killer is likely behind the slaying of some of the eight victims whose bodies were found near a remote beach highway in Long Island, according to police.

Cops returned to the site Tuesday where the remains of four women who worked as prostitutes were found in December and a fifth person was found last week. A new sweep of the overgrowth stretch of the barrier island found three more bodies on Monday.

The bodies were found about 45 miles each of New York City off a highway leading to Jones Beach.

Police have not yet identified the four recent bodies and have not identified a suspect in the slayings.
