Prospect Park Carousel on opening day April 2, 2011 (Amy Pearl/WNYC)

It was just warm enough to leave your jacket at home this weekend when the Prospect Park Carousel in Brooklyn opened for the season. A steady flow of people, old and young, lined up for $2 rides on the hand-carved animals. The carousel was made by Charles Carmel, a master carver and has been in Prospect Park since 1952. The carousel is open through October 30.
