Chile Pepper Fiesta
Friday, October 01, 2010 - 04:58 PM
Chile pepper lovers unite! The 18th annual Chile Pepper Fiesta is happening in Brooklyn on Saturday. The party celebrates the veggie and the nations which love 'em.
Fiery cooking demonstrations and chile pepper tastings will be paired with performances from nations including Haiti, Algeria and India. Appropriately, there will be fire-breathing and fire juggling.
Chef Corwin Kave of the Fatty Crab Malaysian restaurants says the secret behind chiles is to eat them fresh:
"If you're chewing on fresh herbs and fresh chiles while you're eating it brightens your palette, it cleanses your palette, it's good for you and it makes your food exciting," he says.
The Chile Pepper Fiesta will be in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden between noon and 6 PM on Saturday.
