Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez was charged with third-degree assault and released without bail from a Queens courtroom today.
He was also ordered to stay away from his father-in-law, who he allegedly assaulted at a family lounge at CitiField following a game.
The Mets suspended Rodriguez for two days. He was also placed on the restricted list and removed from the team's active roster.
In a statement, Mets Chief Operating Officer Jeff Wilpon says the organization is "very disappointed" with Rodriguez's "inappropriate behavior."
