My License Plate Says "Tibetan"

Tuesday, October 26, 2010 - 01:11 PM

Seen in Jackson Heights, which has a small but noticeable community of Tibetans. But I can't help wonder: At what point does a member of a tiny ethnic minority decides s/he needs to "represent"? I suspect it requires some amount of solidarity -- no point in having a license plate that says "Tibetan" if there aren't any other Tibetans around, is there?

The decision to "represent" is probably influenced by how much pressure is being exerted on that "tiny minority" to disappear from the face of the earth.

Even without such pressure, there are millions of "American and Proud" stickers and shirts and flags all over the USA; I don't find it odd for anyone to be proud of their country.

arun venugopal, this is not india or asia where you can comment on anybody passing by and pick up ordinary people choice as a tool to write.there are many major crisis in india such as racial discrimination towards northeastern indians by the north indians, poverty, lack of education ,corrupt system etc.., think for those who really need voice and support.
this is just unneccesary article.what are you trying to proof from this article.or you wanna create a division there like in india over minorities.
hope you will focus on more major crisis....
