What Are We Up To During The State Of The Union?
Tuesday, January 25, 2011 - 12:00 AM
During tonight's State of the Union address, It's A Free Country has lots going on. We're hosting a watching party at WNYC's Jerome L. Greene Performance Space here in New York City. But just because you're not with us in NYC doesn't mean you can't be part of the party. Here's how:
- Watch the speech on the IAFC homepage starting at 9pm
- Join our twitter conversation using the #iafcsotu hashtag
- Play SOTU bingo - print out your bingo card now!
- Listen to our State of the Union playlist, featuring songs about states and the USA
- See pictures from the Greene Space event, including shots from our SOTU photo booth
- Take part in our SOTU limerick challenge
- Take a 5-question SOTU quiz
- Read pre-speech takes from Jami Floyd, Elvin Dowling, Bob Hennelly, and regular New Yorkers
And after the speech, be sure to check in with IAFC Tuesday night and Wednesday for post-speech coverage, including
- Speech transcript and open comments thread
- Read over It's A Free Country Responses in the #iafcsotu stream
- Brian Lehrer's speech highlights
- Quick takes from IAFC bloggers
- Coverage on the Brian Lehrer Show Wednesday morning with the IAFC All-Stars
- Video of Tuesday night's performance by the Story Pirates

Please, in your commentary---my senator's name is Hutchison, not Hutchinson!
Brian keeps pronouncing it wrong, and it was wrong in the Accountability Project chart too.
I'm not planning to watch the SOTU. It is nothing but partisan staging, and sheds absolutely no light on what I can expect from my government over the next year. I find it all rather insulting to my intelligence.
I'll put money on the assumption that he WON'T admit that the US is engaged in a secret war in Yemen and Pakistan or mention Wikileaks at all.
