Governor Andrew Cuomo doesn’t have much hope lawmakers will approve a bill to raise the minimum wage before the end of the current legislative session on June 21.

The governor supports the measure. But he said he “wouldn’t bet on it passing,” with the Senate and Assembly still at odds over the proposal.

“There is a philosophical difference of opinion on the issue,” Cuomo said. “I’m not overly optimistic that we are going to bridge that philosophical divide in the time that we have left this session.”

The governor made his betting quip during a news conference to discuss plans to restructure the New York Racing Association.

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver continued to express support for the measure.

The Assembly has already approved the bill.
