That's Michael Bloomberg's take on the volatile behavior attendees have demonstrated at the recent meetings for the Panel for Educational Policy.
"The decorum - this is embarrassing for New York City, New York State, for America," Bloomberg said on WOR this morning. "This is not democracy, letting people yell and scream. That's not freedom of expression. That's just taking away someone else's rights."
The latest PEP meeting, where outrage was loudly expressed, was last night. The panel voted to close 12 failing schools - which comes on top of a similar meeting Tuesday to close 10 other schools.

I don't know how this got so bad, but the real embarrassment for NYC, NY State, and America, is Mike Bloomberg, a man so arrogant that he doesn't feel the need to explain anything to us "children". We elected this man....oh wait, we didn't. He bought the election. So the real problem is that men like this can buy elections and then dictate as they please, while buying the silence of others in the political community. THAT is embarrassing.
There is no democracy in NYC when it comes to our schools. The Mayor and the PEP treat our schools like they are their personal fiefdom, to do w/ as they wish. Parents, students, and other stakeholders are totally ignored. For the mayor to complain about our vocal protest of his dictatorship is quite amazing.
What's embarassing to America is having public officials (PEP and Mayor) give
absolutely no regard to public opinion. We may as well be living in a
dictatorship....

What's embarassing to America is having public officials (Panel for Education Policy and Mayor) completely disregard the will of the people. We may as well be living in a dictatorship.
You know, he's right: we should all take a lesson in Decorum from Cathleen P. Black. http://www.ny1.com/content/news_beats/education/133278/chancellor-black-criticized-for-talking-back-to-crowd-during-pep-meeting/
