David Paterson added some unexpected levity to a live press conference announcing New York won millions of dollars in federal education funding as part of the program formerly known as Race to the Top.

Hey, I don't agree with Crfhtl either, but he has a right to say what he thinks. That is very dangerous thinking, to silence those who disagree with us, no matter how ignorant we believe their statements to be. Please think about this some more!!!
If you talk to a teacher, very few parents even bother to show up on parent-teacher night any more. Parents feel that the school should bear 100% of the responsibility for raising their children, when it is ultimately their own responsibility. I agree that the state should pay for school related expenses, but parents should be paying for their child's other expenses, including home projects, musical instruments, bicycles, toys, baseball camp, girlscouts, etc.
I agree with parents bearing the responsibility for their own children. I grew up with out a lot of money, but we did flash cards and spelling words every evening. We watched very little TV (on a 13" black and white TV) and did supervised project based activities every day, rather than running wild through the neighborhood causing trouble. That was all after school. I feel that if parents can't afford to support their children, they shouldn't have more than one. Sure, have one. Everybody has the right to one. But if you can't afford one, don't have another. And be responsible for your one, giving them the home education they need to support the public supplied education that they get in school. Back it up and reinforce it so that they can thrive. Do art projects, get them a used musical instrument and teach them to play. The school doesn't have to do everything! Parents need to start taking some responsibility and being active in their children's lives.
You mean be responsible for your actions?!! You are soooooo non-PC! Along with the free breakfasts and lunches we should all start funding housing for these kids...that way the parents can be freed up to have more kids for us to support! What the f@*% were you thinking?!
fundamental
Have to agree with everyone else here - shut up. Your comment was completely ignorant. What about people who are lower class income? Are they not allowed to have children? What about somebody who has children, then has a turn in their financial fortunes? Do you think all poor people plan to be that way? Basic education is a funcamental right in America. If you don't like it, go somewhere else. Not every cost has to be born by the public, but basic infrastructure and things that keep the country running and progressing certainly do.
Sounds like Brave New World to me. Who appointed you to be God?
I am not a fan of the Democratic Party, but this is just a progression on Bush's education initiatives. So, any conservative who didn't complain then, shouldn't have any reason to complain now.
Why the !%@$! is our federal government using our tax payer monies to send back to schools. I am soooo tired of the Democratic political machine. We need to reduce the size and scope of government but they continue to bloat it.
someone who doesn't think before they type!!!PUBLIC schools are for everyone, everyone deserves an education so in tune with the penetrator,SHUT UP!
