Critics Picks

October 18, 2007

In today's Film Studies interview, the topic of "celebrity-curated" film series came up. BAM has a series called Jonathan Lethem Selects and the Thalia is near the end of its series John Sayles' Personal Choice. We asked our critics, Slate's Dana Stevens and Newsday's Gene Seymour, what film would be the first they'd include if they were called upon to curate a film series and here are their picks:

Dana Stevens -- In A Lonely Place (1950, dir. Nicholas Ray)
Gene Seymour -- The Landlord (1970, dir. Hal Ashby)
