February is one of the thinnest months in the movie release schedule, but it’s also a golden time for movie trailers, as the studios try to drum up interest for the big budget movies to come in the summer.
“I get really excited when I see a great trailer,” said Kristen Meinzer, co-host of The Takeaway’s Movie Date podcast. “They are their own art form. The problem is sometimes the trailers are so much better than the movies.”
Meinzer and Newsday film critic Rafer Guzman weigh in on some of the most talked about trailers, from The Great Gatsby to The Lone Ranger to Oz The Great and Powerful.

I avoid trailers at all costs. Especially for comedies, where they spoil every single really good joke. I used to LOVE "Coming Attractions" when I was a kid, but now, they go too far. I will often go back and watch a trailer after seeing a movie, and really, it's awful. Case in point, what they're doing to Silver Linings Playbook.
