Hey, time to update this map! You gave me a fright! A train is running all the way up to 207 now! You've still got it only going to 168.

It's kind of crazy how some communities are more equal than others. Like Rebecca from Northern Manhattan, multiple stops along my line are not being served either and there is no information from the MTA, media, or local government. Right now the closest trains are about over a mile away. I know that's so much better than the folks who rely on the G/L trains but it's hard not to get cranky.

The G has been suspended because the tunnel that takes the train under the Newtown Creek flooded. It seems likely that this will be the last tunnel to be pumped out. Given this, the MTA should provide more frequent bus service, or even better, shuttle service, for the G line. There is a petition on the change.org site in support of this:

i paid $104 monthly pass and I have not been able to take the train for over a week because there are no G trains and no subway shuttle bus!! I live in Clinton Hill and work in Williamsburg and Greenpoint. G train is my lifeline and I can say that i'm not the only one needing the G!! They are COMPLETELY ignoring the G line, there NO PARALLEL SUBWAY LINES, and NO SHUTTLE BUS??

I have yet to hear any discussion on WNYC (admittedly I am far from being an around-the-clock listener - job makes it impossible) of the fact that the A train is not running north of 168th. My simple trip between Hudson Heights and Harlem has doubled in length because of this; I shudder to think what people with longer commutes are going through. The MTA website says nothing about a projected date for restoration of service, and I have gotten conflicting stories from MTA personnel about the cause of the problem. Does anyone know what's going on?

I live in wburg, work in Lic. I rely on the G for commuting and the L to get to the city for appts, etc. it is unacceptable that Bloomberg and the mta have not provided my area w shuttle buses. The morning commute has been unbearable during the past week!!

I have commuted via the G rain for over 7 years snd seen rider ship increase before my very eyes!! I don't know chat it takes to get the govt to pay attention to us.

How did the G get flooded? There are no stations low enough to let water in

Any word on progress on A or C trains crossing the East River? I thought I'd heard a rumor that A train would start sometime today, but I can't find updated info. Thanks.

Suggestion to MTA: Provide express buses in Williamsburg and other Brooklyn/Queens/SI/NYC areas where you do not. Relying on the L train to get to work in Manhattan has often been a crap shoot.

Has there been any status report on the L train? Nothing I've read mentions it specifically.

Staten Island Rail update Sun. 11/4/12. Trains are running from Tottenville to St. George, timed with the Ferry.

Why isn't the A train running above 168th Street? It makes no sense!

So now that the power is back on in lower Manhattan, why can't they run the 1-2-3 trains to Chambers Street instead of 34th Street? It seems they are running the 4-5-6 trains below 34th Street,

I just learned that Staten Island Rail will resume limited operations by Monday, perhaps as early as later today. And I can hear the trains from my father's house, 1 km from Great Kills station. The St. George train terminal was flooded - 5 feet of water. All the electronics are gone. Service will resume to Tomkinsville or Stapleton with bus service from there to St. George.
If we rebuild the terminal we should build a flood storage tank in old train yard and train terminus at street level. To paraphrase Gov. Cuomo, "we need to rebuild infrastructure to be resilient to these 'Hundred Year storms' which come every year."

Will the 3-person rule be in effect on Sunday? I need to drive from midtown to BAM for a sunday matinee. Will I be able to do that with 2 people? OR: what can you tell me about the shuttle bus running to Brooklyn? Will that be running on Sunday?

When will Staten Island Rail resume operations?

I have it on very good authority that the 4-5 trains may be back in service this evening, and the F train on Saturday or Sunday.

They ran the service that was easiest to run, depending on a whole lot of variables (Why no G? The Greenpoint tube was flooded). I will post again from home, with a link as to photo damage of NYCT property ... unless WNYC picked it up from my FB page (I cannot post / see FB where I am now ... who am I? I work with / for the actual service planners.)

Might the reporters know why the B/Q trains are still suspended? They go over East River Bridges and terminate at Coney Island exactly like the F/N/R/D, etc. but for some reason they're not running at all. Did something more awful happen to the Brighton Line tracks? Any info would be appreciated.

Does anyone know the status of the M15 bus? I assume it's running with delays, but will they stop running in Lower Manhattan after dark?

Anyone have an update on the Metro North HUDSON LINE between Croton and Grand Central? I know it is operating, but what are wait times like?

I need information about LIRR to Hicksville. My epileptic dog needs meds that are waiting at Costco in Westbury. I have very little gas in my car and thought to take the train to a stop where a friend could pick me up. I don't know the LIRR - never use it - and can't tell from the LIRR website if trains are stopping in Forest Hills and going to Hicksville.

Looks like NEC line of NJTransit will be operating this morning all the way to NYC Penn Station. :-)

For Lisa - X38 bus goes east on 23rd St to FDR, then Battery Tunnel to Brooklyn. But Battery Tunnel is closed - so you have to find out the new route. Look in Brooklyn Bus Map.

What is status of Red and Tan service to Rockland County, NEw YOrk? I call the dispatcher's office and no one answers. THeir email alert service has never workd for me. I have sgiged up for it multiple times, but never get any information from them. THeir Web site is useless for providing emergency information. What is going on with that company?

I've heard there are no buses downtown after dark. But what about the shuttle buses to Brooklyn? Does anyone know when they stop running for the day?

Wednesday I had to turn back home after splitting a cab stuck in traffic on the streets in Queens to the 59th Street Bridge. And that was after waiting 45 mins for an Express Bus or a local bus that actually stopped and had room for passengers.
Today, Thursday, I arrived at the LIRR platform in Forest Hills at about 8 am expecting to wait a half hour for a packed train. Instead, about a minute later an empty train pulled in and took me and two other passengers in the first car to Penn Station in 14 minutes. We even sailed past the station at Woodside where lots of people were waiting. Go figure.

Watching the F train since 6:00 AM from our window in Carroll Gardens - it has been running back and forth regularly with what looks like very few passengers.

Instead of living 60 years in the past, when you are an "arm" of the City Government, how 'bout a little "arms length" reporting.

1) Quit rubber-stamping municipal websites, when a quick look at those would show that they're worthless ... under current conditions.
2) Quit parroting what the MTA says about service ... and report things like "If it took 3 hours to get to work when about 10% of the workforce made the effort, expect at least that long a trip tomorrow (Thursday), now that most employers are 'expecting' staff to be at their desks."
3) Lay off some of the high-tech stuff long enough to do what a good newspaper STILL DOES - provide some typical routes and options.

For example. "If you live in Park Slope and work in midtown, you should ..."

What is "transportation nation" if it can't be helpful in connection with transportation at a time when New York's usually stellar system is in tatters?!

All the busses will be back starting tomorrow.
Many have full service, full route, some are truncated routes.

Took a 3+ hour bus ride from Briarwood, Queens into Manhattan this morning! It was long, but I made it. Now I'm hoping to make it home.

From what I have read on the MTA bus maps, there are buses that go between Brooklyn and Manhattan. (BM 1, 2, 3, 4. And X 27, 28, 37, 38.) However, all go through the Battery Tunnel. The MTA says these buses are still running, so they must be rerouted. Any idea about how the routing is working?

Yes, if anyone knows how the Brooklyn-Manhattan express buses are being re-routed given that the Battery Tuinnel is closed, that would be really great! Specifically the BM1, BM2, BM3, BM4.

How does one get over any of the bridges from Brooklyn to Manhattan? I am trying to plan my route to work tomorrow but can't find any info about buses running over the bridges. The maps posted only show bus lines running through tunnels and we all know that's not happening.

I have a ticket to Wicked on Thursday. Live in northern CT. Is my only hope to get there to drive myself? Are the streets even open enough to let me get to the theater? Would plan on driving back after the show - again, is that even possible?

I don't think this is going to go well at all and prematurely offering half-assed operation of buses will be a big problem for the MTA. They should have taken another day to put together routes and central drop/transfer points that people will understand. Someone is going to get fired for failing to plan ahead.

@Sandra in Bay Ridge: The bus from Bay Ridge to Manhattan (the X27) normally uses the Brooklyn-Battery tunnel. Unless the MTA reroutes it over a bridge, it won't be running until the tunnel can be used again.

Why no info on ferries from NJ into city? Would be helpful.

It's 9pm on Tuesday, I plan on going to work tomorrow in Manhattan. I live in Brooklyn. I find it sad, confusing, infuriating that there's no indication of how to do that on a bus tomorrow. Right now, the bus lines that are running from Brooklyn don't include any that go over the 3 Brooklyn East River bridges. Maybe they'll have some running tomorrow, but i find it disconcerting that the MTA provides no information on that. Sigh.

Anyone see a spot for info on express buses? These are run by the MTA Bus Co. and NOT NYC Transit, so I cant assume that they will be running.

MTA's website as of 9pm Tuesday is useless, no information except a long story about how bad things are.

Where is the site for John Hockenberry's show? I just found out we both live in Red Hook, and I wanted to say, Hi, Neighbor. But I click on his name and it does _nothing_. I can say things about Transit, since I work for them.

Sandra, go to MTA.info, look at bus map. There are buses that go down 4th avenue ... I don't know them by heart, but I do know they're there.

I live in Bay Ridge-my subway line is the R. Have no idea what buses to take into the city or even if they're working. Any info on this?

The Q60 is the ONLY BUS that goes over a bridge into Manhattan from Brooklyn or Queens. So we'll all be piling onto this already packed bus tomorrow. On a Sunday schedule. I can only imagine how slow that's going to be, but at least I won't have to pay for a slow car service or taxi...

It would be great if you could also post an updated bus map of the city - I've been trying to access any MTA related websites and so far have had no success...not sure how to head into Manhattan tomorrow unless I can catch a cab or figure out which bus lines may take me...

I'd love to try to get to work tomorrow. I live in Brooklyn and work on the UES. I am trying to get info about what bus routes I can take and the MTA website for bus routes/schedules is currently down. Is anyone talking about when the MTA will be able to get that back up and running OR if the city is creating alternative bus routes that more closely follow some of the subway stops????

Lincoln Tunnel never closed. It was open through the entire storm and is still open.

The single most (depressing) thing I've found today is the extreme difficulty of finding out what roads are open or closed, here and in the suburbs. What ought to be straightforward, centralized, easily available information is non-existent, nor are there any indications as to where one might go to find out such things. Instead, I find hundreds of Twitter feeds full of irrelevancies and web sites with no updates. Even here, the list of bridges and tunnels doesn't mention the Lincoln Tunnel. So much for the magical, all-knowing internet.

Given that the subways will take days to be up and running again, is there any news on safe bike routes to take? ie, is the esplanade along the Hudson River open and safe?

When this over please look into the robocalls about volunteering for the storm shelters. When u get a robocall asking u to volunteer it gives s response number but it only functions to take a yes or no. If you respond with yes your next call assigns u to a shelter but then you get a time to report-mine was midnight Fri to Sat for 12 hours which I could not do so I called the number provided - the message box is always full and then the robovoice says we will switch you to the attendant but when switched the robovoice says no attendant assigned. So I got and am still getting robocalls with times to report. I walked over to shelter Sat. -2 managers otherwise no one there. They had no vol, list. I left. The robcalls are not effective.
