The hockey team owner who has decided to move the Islanders from Long Island to Brooklyn is to play a role in revamping the team's old home, the Nassau Coliseum.

Nassau County executive Ed Mangano says Islanders owner Charles Wang and Barclays developer Bruce Ratner will be part of a team that will devise a plan to develope the 77-acre site into a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment destination.

Earlier attempts to revamp the 40-year-old Coliseum failed, prompting Wang's  decision to move the team to Barclays when their lease expires in 2015.
