In Wake of Shootings, Ct. Governor Malloy Calls for Federal Action on Guns

Connecticut Governor Daniel Malloy is joining the growing chorus of advocates calling for more federal action on gun control, in the wake of the mass shooting in Newtown last Friday.
Speaking at a press conference Monday, Malloy said that although Connecticut has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country, federal action needs to be taken in order to make a difference.
"In the absence of a federal framework in which we limit, really the explosive nature of the weapons and ammunition that's used, no state would ever be safe based on, simply, its own laws," Malloy said.
Malloy also asked for a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, to honor the victims of the shooting. He's asking churches to ring their bells 26 times — once for each of the 20 children and six adults killed.

Dear Wayne A. Taylor,
So, you believe the President has the MORAL right and obligation to circumvent the rule of law for his own personal opinions? You don't believe in checks and balances? You, sir, are why we all need to keep our guns. If the President executed on your bizzare plan, he would be guilty of tyranny and must be removed from power, forceably if necessary.
If you like that sort of government, please move to some other country and leave this one to the people that appreciate it.

Dear Mr. President:
If my facts are correct, all of the most recent violent acts were committed by those wearing some sort of “body armor.” Two points: I know of no Second Amendment Right to either purchase or have such “going to wage war garments” in ones possession. It is my belief that the elimination of the ability to purchase or to own such items may in fact reduce the delusional mind-set … from a state of invincible to vulnerable.
I would respectively request: One- That if you cannot get the guns, then by Executive Order – perhaps through the Commerce Department, enforced by the ATF and under the Patriot Act deem all such items evidence of a “potential terrorist attack.” Thus, giving you or rather each department clearance to proceed as outlined within said Act.
Second Thought: By Executive Order and under the Patriot Act have a background check conducted on every “lawful licensed owner of every gun” retroactively. This not only your right by Law but it is incumbent upon you to do so as our “Protector and Commander and Chief.”
Third Thought: Announce in a very public forum that, both the ATF along with the IRS is conducting their own joint investigations as to all sales of all weapons in the U.S.A. This both of all manufactures and resellers alike. All of them may expect a visit by this joint task force as some point in time in the not to distant future.
With this announcement Mr. President, I would suspect that you may have much less of an opposition to your and all our goals- to save our children.
