Unemployment dipped slightly in New York City last month, as all five boroughs saw job growth.

New figures from the state labor department put the city's jobless rate at 9.2 percent, down from 9.3 percent. The city's economy grew by 14,000 private sector jobs, seasonally adjusted, according to an analysis by the firm Eastern Consolidated. That's more growth than is typically seen from September to October.  

Among the sectors with the strongest growth was professional and business services, which includes accountants, lawyers, and architects.

The state's jobless rate remained unchanged at 8.3 percent. Nationwide, 9.6 percent of Americans willing and able to work could not find a job in October.
