Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo named the members of his transition team on Thursday, and they are a racially diverse and bipartisan group.

Lt. Governor-elect Robert Duffy will direct the transition committee. Its members include Brooklyn Democratic Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, who's Hispanic, and former State Comptroller Carl McCall, who's African American. Also on the committee are Republican Joanie Mahoney, the executive of Onondaga County and investment banker Felix Rohatyn, who helped the city avoid bankruptcy in the 1970s.

Cuomo also announced two separate advisory committees. One will focus on solving the state's financial problems. It includes American Express CEO Kenneth Chenault and Dennis Hughes, the head of the AFL-CIO.

The other committee will deal with economic development and labor issues. Its members include the state's legislative leaders, Hazel Dukes with the NAACP and Elinor Tatum, the publisher of the Amsterdam News, who had accused Cuomo of taking African American support for granted during his campaign.
