A dead 25-foot-long baby humpback whale washed up on the eastern end of Jones Beach this morning. It's the second one since April, when a baby whale became stranded on an East Hampton beach and later died.
George Goreman, from the state Parks Department, says there's no cause for concern. "We see two, three marine strandings or fatalities from sea mammals annually. And that's not unusual," he says.
Marine researchers will perform a necropsy to determine a cause of death. The whale will be buried on the beach.
