Easter Parade Features Creative Haberdashery

Sunday, April 04, 2010

The Easter holiday is an occasion that often inspires creative haberdashery.

REPORTER: Many New Yorkers will wear their spring-like hats to church. Others will don them at the annual Easter Parade and Bonnet festival along 5th Avenue. Marla Cook, Manager of The Hat Shop on Thomposn street in Manhattan recalls seeing a memorable tiered creation at last year's parade:

COOK: It was covered with one color of flowers and then it just progressively got taller and more narrow and it kind of changed in color. So outlandish and borderline ridiculous, that it was kind of the epitome of what the parade was supposed to be.

REPORTER: People, pets, and more will be decked out in Easter finery along 5th Avenue between 49th and 57th streets.
