Yassky: I'm Only Candidate Speaking Truth On Pension Reform

With four City Council members all vying for the office of city comptroller in the September 15th Democratic primary, the candidates have just a week to stand out in the crowded field. For Brooklyn Councilman David Yassky, it is his view on city pensions.
YASSKY: I am proud that I am the only candidate in the race willing to speak the truth and say we need pension reform. We can't have 10 percent of the City's operating budget be contributions to the pension system.
Yassky was speaking to WNYC's Brian Lehrer. Changes to city workers' pensions require permission from the state legislature. The city comptroller oversees the city's five municipal pension funds.
