Paterson: Deficit Balloons to $10B

Friday, October 30, 2009

Governor Paterson says the state budget deficit has grown yet again, to a projected $10-billion. Karen DeWitt reports from Albany.

REPORTER: Paterson, following a leaders meeting in which no conclusions were reached, said he intends to go ahead with the special session on November 10, and keep lawmakers in Albany until they figure out how to close the gap.

PATERSON: They'll come back and we'll stay there until we get it done.

REPORTER: Senate Democrats continue to press for a refinancing of the tobacco settlement bonds, a plan Paterson called a phony house of cards. In Albany, I'm Karen DeWitt.
