New York, NY –
New York is among 26 cities that hosted an "Emergency Day of Outrage" to remember victims of gun violence. In Times Square, signs with faces of victims were held over a coffin to call attention to all the lives that have been lost. Director Spike Lee addressed the crowd and said many of the perpetrators are often teenagers who've lost their way. "Young people have lost the meaning of life. They lost the value of life. If they don't value their life they're not going to value anyone else's life. So as New Yorker, black, white, Hispanic, Asian we got to come together to make this truly the greatest city in the world," Lee says.
Cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles also held rallies today. They were organized by the Reverend Al Sharpton's National Action Network.
