Congress to Investigate Alleged Impropriety in H1N1 Vaccine Distribution

A Congressional subcommittee will hold a hearing later this month about whether Wall Street employees and other privileged individuals are getting the swine flu vaccine before people from high-risk groups.
New Jersey Congressman Frank Pallone says he wants to find out if the distribution process favors well-heeled firms.
PALLONE: Because they have health clinics and they are more effective in making the case or applying for it, that you know, they get preferred treatment.
REPORTER: About 50 employers in the city have received the H1N1 vaccine so far, including Goldman Sachs and Citigroup. In statements the two companies say the vaccine would only go to those in high-risk groups.
The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee is set to convene its hearing on the vaccine on the 18th.
