Rally at City Hall

Thursday, March 05, 2009

Thousands of public employees crowded the sidewalks outside City Hall to protest feared city and state budget cuts. Kathleen Horan has this to report from the corner of Broadway and Chambers.

"The street is full of people with homemade signs that say 'Tax the rich to save education' and 'Protect our schools.' Most of the people I've spoken to are teachers who are worried that budget cuts will increase class size and potentially cut funding for supplies or school counselors. They say that education should be the first priority for the governor and the mayor."
