New York, NY –
Attorney General Eric Holder has ordered increased security for at-risk abortion providers and facilities, in the wake of Sunday's killing of Dr. George Tiller.
Tiller's Kansas clinic was one of only 3 in the nation that provided late-term abortions.
Dr. Ann Davis, medical director of the New York-based group Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health, and a Columbia University OB/GYN, says there aren't many women who need such abortions, but Tiller's death will make it harder for them to receive care.
DAVIS: We're talking about people who are in some very complex and sometimes dangerous situations that definitely need help from their physicians, so we're gonna have to figure out how we can care for those women.
REPORTER: Davis says her hospital has referred patients to Tiller's clinic in the past.
She says she and her colleagues are deeply shaken and sad over Tiller's death.
