Groups Call for Health Care for Working Class

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

New York doctors, patients, and health care reform activists are calling for more affordable health insurance for working class families in New York. Doctor Greg Dodell is a resident at Saint Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital. He says the limitations that health care plans have on low-income patients affect how much he is able to care for them.

DODELL: If I had a patient who just had a heart attack and I want to prescribe him a certain medication dosage that has been proven in research trials to help these patients after a heart attack, then I should be able to do it without calling an insurance company to argue with him of why this patient needs the medication.

Activists rallied at City Hall today, calling on Congress to vote on the health care reform bill before it breaks for recess in August.
